Norikazu Oe began his relationship with ceramics early, attending a high school that specializes in ceramics training in Seto, one Japans foremost pottery centers.
After graduating he continued his training in Tajimi, another of Japan's famous pottery towns. Oe went independent in 1999 and currently works out of his studio in Gifu Prefecture.
