Tokyo designer Osamu Saruyama takes his influence for his series of white tableware from the West but manages to infuse it with a Japanese sensibility . Collaborating with potter Naoto Okada they have created series of tableware that is at once spare and sophisticated. It is a blend of western tableware style and Japanese handmade pottery. Each cup, plate and bowl is hand formed by Okada and fired at his kiln in Ishikawa Prefecture. The slight differences in shapes and imperfections all work to give each piece a warmth and uniqueness not found in mass produced tableware.
