Meshiwan (Rice Bowl)
Produced by Koshun Gama for Azmaya
Made in Japan
Design planning company Azmaya works with artisans to create
contemporary products using traditional skills and materials.
This series
of tableware was produced with Koshun Gama in Kyushu. Potters at Koshun Gama
worked hard to perfect the finish on these Yunomi (tea cups) and Meshiwan
(bowls). Each cup and bowl with its tiny cracks, spots and imperfections
resulting from the firing process has a unique and distinctive character.
Meshiwan are used in Japan as bowls for rice, however they can naturally be used
for any purpose.
**As each bowl is handmade there will be some variation in tone and texture from
what is pictured here. Spots and marks are part of the finish.
Not suitable for use in microwaves and dishwashers.
