A functional bowl with an elegant form. The bowl is finished with and black urushi coat applied using the fuki-urushi technique of repeatedly applying and wiping off the lacquer. After the process is complete the remaining lacquer coat protects and strengthens the wood while allowing hints of the grain to shine through.
Husband and wife team Kenichi and Minako Fujii work together to produce each bowl. Kenichi shaping each piece in preparation for Minako whose expertise lies in the application of the lacquer.
