Kyoto based glass artist Sonoko Matsuda uses casting techniques to craft the series of small patterned glass boxes she calls Toki no Hako. The boxes, decorated with intricate botanical motifs, vary in size and shape and range from translucent to opaque.

1986: Born in Fukuoka
2011: Graduated from Tama Art University, Faculty of Arts and Design Department, Glass Program.
2013: Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Fine Arts Master's Course Crafts Department.
2015: Completed study at Kanazawa Utatsuyama Kogei Kobo (Craft Studio)
2018: Ended work as an assistant in the Glass Laboratory at Tama Art University, Department of Ceramic, Glass and Metal Works.
Present: Producing glass works at her studio in Southern Kyoto and exhibiting in Japan.
